Theme Decorations
If you are planning a theme for your party read the ideas below and make the ideas and colours appropriate to your theme.
For example, if you are having a Butterfly theme- choose pink and purple, a Footy theme- footy colours etc.

Balloons
Hang balloons in bunches for a great look.
Attach balloons to light fixtures or the ceiling and hang them in doorways or anywhere else suitable in your house.
Use colourful ribbon to tie the balloons together and curl the end by pulling the ribbon between your thumb and the blade of scissors.
Tie a balloon to each child’s chair.
Tie balloons to the gate. Even tie them to the dog!!!!!
Decorated balloons- Balloons can be decorated with coloured stickers or using texta colours….
Some balloons and decorations at reasonable prices. Not all strictly for children so keep looking.
Streamers
Decorating with streamers adds colour.
Gather 6-8 streamers and attach them to your walls – mounting them in corners and opposite facing walls works well. Then twist them and attach them to the ceiling in the centre of the room.
For colourful two colour streamers, lay two different colours back to back and twist them as you walk towards the wall they or light fitting they are attached to.
Decorate outside too with streamers. Decorate trees, fences, swing sets etc.
String streamers:
1. Cut out different shapes in card.
2. Thread the end of a piece of ribbon through the top of each shape and knot it tightly.
3. Spread a string across the room in an elevated position.
4. Tie the ribbons holding the shapes at evenly spaced intervals along the string.
Paper chains:
1. Cut different colours into strips.
2. Stick the ends of one strip to make a loop. Then loop another strip through this loop and stick.
3. Keep making new loops until you have a long chain.
Table Decorations
Choose a brightly coloured table cloth and spread on the table. You might like to put a protective covering under the cloth to protect the table.
Choose two colours for your cups, plates, bowls etc.
Cut several pieces of curling ribbon and curl it by pulling between your thumb and the blade of scissors. Lay the curls along your table and in front of each table setting.
Sprinkle table glitter over the table.
Place name cards are a good idea or the party take home treats with the child’s name help to stop any problems regarding who sits where….
