December has begun and so has the countdown to Christmas.
We cannot compete with the fantastic sites on the web so thought that we would show you a couple of our favourites and give you some ideas to entertain the children over Christmas.

Christmas Celebrations around the world are very different. In some countries it is winter and very cold, whilst others celebrate in summer heat. In Australia it is summer and can be very hot. Picnics and bar-b-ques are common. As there are many people from different countries some still have roasts of turkey, chicken or lamb.
How do you celebrate Christmas?
A simple poem is made by writing the letters of Christmas down the page, one letter at a time. Challenge the children to write a poem with each new line starting with the next letter in the word. Long or short woords or phrases can be used.
Can you make one?
Challenge to see how many words they can make using the letters in the square.
There is one word of nine letters.
Each word must contain the middle letter (ie T)
Depending on the age of the children limit the number of letters that must be in the word eg four or more letters, but accept two and three letter words from younger children.
Other Christmas words that can be used are: greetings, Bethlehem, shepherds.
