Leaf Rubbings.
Place a leaf on table. Put some paper on top of the leaves. Tape the paper down to stop it moving. Place a crayon length ways on the paper and rub back and forwards. The pattern of the veins and leaves will show on the paper
Autumn Leaf Shuffle
Take the children for a walk in a park where there are many Autumn leaves. Let them run and shuffle through the leaves. Collect different coloured and shaped Autumn leaves for some activities we have below.
Autumn Tree
Draw a big tree with branches on a large piece of paper. Stick the leaves you have collected onto the branches with strong glue. Put the picture on the fridge or on the wall. Looks lovely!
Leaf Hunt
Collect a variety of the leaves from the garden and bring them in for the children. Then go with them outside and have them match the leaves to the trees they belong to.
Paper Bag Kite
Take advantage of the Autumn winds and fly a kite.
Punch a hole in each of the four corners of a large paper bag. Put paper ring reinforcements on each hole. Cut two pieces of string about 80 cm long . Tie each end into a hole to make two loops. Cut a piece of string about 80 cm long. Put it through the two loops and tie it. It will make a handle. Paint or draw on the bag or paste Autumn leaves all over it. Open the bag. Hold onto the string and run so the wind can catch the bag and make it fly....
Pretend to be a leaf on a windy day
You are on a tree being blown from side to side. Suddenly you come loose from the tree and fly about in the wind. The wind dies and you sink quietly to the ground.
